A time of crises has engulfed the world and humanity currently. I extend my prayers to all to be safe and sound with your families. This pandemic has hit every section of the economy universally. Education gas taken a big hit as well. Schools and colleges have been closed across the country, all major examinations and tests cancelled and a lot of schools promoted the children on the basis of cumulative. All this was done to ensure the safety of our future generations from this pandemic. To me my school, the students there and the entire staff is an extended part of my house and family which pushed me to take precautions (like sanitation and fumigation of the school and healthy vegetarian food was made a part of routine since February 2019) much before the school closed.
When the school closed, as an educationist with a full fledged tech smart school, I and my entire team took upon the challenge of keeping the teaching continuous with the help of online teaching platforms and aids. Nalapad has always prided itself for its savvy attitude and apple certified teachers. We set a trend with an excellent outcome. There were very creative reflections and project shared with the children to ensure that they were in sync with the online methodology. Not only were the online classes a success but, the children flourished in the online examinations very well appreciated by the parents.
The online PTM was one of a kind and again we are were applauded by the parents. We plan to keep the teaching continuous at this time and have already planned ahead for the coming academic year. We hope to ensure that the students of Nalapad never lose on knowledge.
Legend say that times of crisis test civilizations and humanity and brings out the best and the worst together. COVID-19 is one such pandemic that is testing the entire world economy, human race and is threatening its survival.
Education sector has also found it particular handicapping, since it deals with the future generations of humankind. The schools in Bangalore were shut down earlier this month to ensure maximum protection and precaution for our younger generation. Kudos to the Nalapad management who acted fast during the closure, ensuring continuity of the learning process through online teaching. Within two days of closure, we started online classes for all the students.
Emerging as the most tech savvy and efficient school in the chaos. Technology has always been a priority at Nalapad, now it helps us maintain social distancing while keeping us connected. There are multiple networking apps which are connecting humankind as of now, however for us Google meet became our savior.
Initially we all had out qualms about online teaching considering the network connectivity in different areas, availability of parent during teaching hours and children’s adaptation to online teaching, since our student age group ranges from 2 to 15 years of age.
While we were equipped with digital teaching, we weren’t sure how the students would cope with such a change. The parents were very supportive and collaborated with the teachers to ensure effective learning. Due to that endless support from the parents, the transition into online teaching was a breeze. However, there were a few challenges that needed to be tackled. We didn’t want to expose that kids to be tackled. We didn’t want to expose the kids to a lot of continuous screen time. Efficient systematic approach helped us nail this again. We scheduled the classes for 30 minutes wile giving a ten-minute break between each class. The teachers of pre-primary found that the students were unable to stay focused for a long time, so they adapted to different interactive and interesting methodologies like storytelling and video lessons to the get the students attention and focus. They also shortened the duration of the lesson to a certain extent to keep the children clam.
Apart from keeping the children effectively engaged during the teaching hours, all the teachers came up with efficient reflection work on a daily basis which helped the children to revise days learning in the after class hours, which was well appreciated by the parents again. Thinking and creativity based reflections saw a wonderful output from the children.
We at Nalapad could have chosen an easy way out to promote our children to the next grade based on their formative and summit assessment cumulative grades that were conducted through.
2019-2020, but again at Nalapad easy in a cliché and we believe in utilizing technology for the maximum output, as far as education and learning is concerned. we conducted online exams, with online invigilation with Google coming to our rescue again. We compiled creative audio and video aids for the students along with the subjective online exams. The results was much appreciated by all and the parents were particularly happy with this approach. We concluded this entire feat with the most successful online PTM. In such chaotic times, to pull off such a smooth transition by keeping the children mentally occupied was not an easy feat. It was possible only due to constant support from the parents, the management, our principal, the teachers and all the students. We sign off by saying that that thirsts for learning will always be there, and we at Nalapad aim to facilitate that always, as effectively as we can.
